Learn MoreAndy is the head trainer at Paws in Nature and a qualified IMDT trainer. Every dog is different. A puppy needs socialisation and life skills. A rescue dog may need help with fear or behaviour problems. An older dog might need work on recall or pulling on the lead.
Training sessions with Andy begin with a full assessment. Andy looks at the dog's behaviour, the owner's goals and the home environment. From there, a plan is built. Owner training is central — Andy focuses on training the owner as much as the dog. Clients regularly cannot wait to put his advice into practice because the methods are clear and simple to follow.
"We have a 6-year-old Chihuahua called Ted who is reactive and aggressive towards other dogs. We contacted Paws in Nature and they came to our home. They assessed the situation and gave us a plan. Within just a few weeks Ted's behaviour improved dramatically. We can now walk him without constant stress and anxiety."
"Our rescue greyhound developed severe separation anxiety. She would become distressed the moment we left the house. Paws in Nature worked with us on a graduated desensitisation programme. She now happily settles when we go out. We cannot thank them enough."
"Our springer spaniel cross staffie had zero recall. She would run off and completely ignore us. Paws in Nature taught us about engagement and focus work. She now comes back reliably every single time. The training has transformed our walks."
Paws in Nature provides dog training across the entire Wirral. Based at Egerton House in Birkenhead, Andy offers home visits and training near Hoylake, Birkenhead, West Kirby and all surrounding areas.

We train dogs of all ages. Puppy training is important for early socialisation, but older dogs learn new behaviours at any stage. We have worked with dogs from 8 weeks to 14 years old.
We offer a range of both group classes and private one to one sessions. Group classes suit puppy socialisation. One-to-one sessions are better for behaviour issues, reactive dogs or specific training goals.
We use positive reinforcement and science-backed training methods. As qualified IMDT trainers, we follow Kennel Club good citizen principles. No aversive tools or punishment-based techniques are used.
Basic obedience shows improvement within 2–4 weeks. Behaviour modification for reactivity or aggression takes 8–12 weeks. Consistency between sessions is key.
